The position of Police Officer I offers a starting salary of $50,000, and at the Rock Hill Police Department, we also have a Career Ladder Program. This program allows officers to advance in rank and pay upon fulfilling the requirements outlined in our General Orders. A valid South Carolina driver’s license is required once hired. Out of state lateral transfers will have a combined 3 week academy. Two weeks at Rock Hill Police Department and one week at The South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy in Columbia, SC. Correctional Officers are required to complete a three-week jail training course at the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy in Columbia, South Carolina. This will be done during the candidate’s first year of hire. Telecommunications Operators are required to successfully complete NCIC and APCO E911 certification within the probationary period.
